How To Throw A Galentine’s Day Party + What To Wear

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and while that may leave you filled with dread, let it excite you instead! I honestly did not mean to rhyme, but since I did, I’m not changing it. Now how can I possibly be excited about a made up, cheesy, Hallmark holiday that caters only to those in a relationship you ask? Well, I am married, but my husband’s excitement for this holiday does not match mine. So instead, I’ll get into it by hosting a Galentine’s Day party with copious amounts of food and alcohol beverages! Today I’m giving you an easy step by step on how to throw the perfect fete for your ladies, and sharing my V-Day inspired ensemble because what’s a party without an Instagrammable outfit to attend in?

Send a cute invite

Whether you go all out with pretty paper invites sent via snail mail, or you create a quick and quirky Facebook event page, get the word out! This will get your guests excited, and ensure that your event is on their calendar. It also sets the tone and theme for your party, and is a chance to showcase your style. Plus, you won’t irritate all your friends with an unnecessary group text. I love these digital options from Minted.

Choose your decor

Decorations are key for creating a fun and festive vibe, and of course your guests will likely be excited by the opportunity for cute Insta photos #doitforthegram. Think pink, white, and red balloons and wreathes, heart shaped confetti scattered across tabletops, streamers, and valentine themed garland. Instead of roses (over it), put together a few bouquets of peonies in understated vases. The result is simply chic. Take it a step further and create personalized place cards for all of your guests. I love these, also from Minted.

Create a killer menu

Obviously, you need food and drinks. While you’re at it, make them fun! Finger sized bites are easy to make in multiples and cute! My favorites are cheese boards, meatballs, and caprese salad skewers. Have a signature cocktail for your guests that’s both tasty and pretty. Again, get those aesthetically pleasing pics ladies and gents.

Have a stellar playlist

Further set the party vibes with ongoing tunes! Think upbeat; this is not meant to be a pity party for those celebrating singledom. Ariana, Britney, Cher. Throw ’em all on there. You want your guests to feel like partying from the second they walk in! Check out my own Galentine’s Playlist for inspiration.

Prepare take home goodies

I love a good party favor, honestly who doesn’t? You don’t have to get too fancy or spend too much money to impress your guests. A simple cellophane bag, filled with lipgloss and candy, and tied with a pretty ribbon would  be perfect. You could even send each guest home with a beautifully decorated cupcake in a pretty little box. The options are endless really.

Find the perfect outfit

This may just be the most important step! Whether you’re hosting or attending, you’re gonna want to look valentine chic-there will be photos. Take some inspiration from the look I’ve put together. Of course you don’t have to include pink or red in your outfit, but I personally love the festive touch it adds. Another way to add some V Day flair is with hearts, they can even be black to match yours! I love a good patterned blouse, or graphic tee!

I am absolutely in love with this pink teddy jacket, it is so cozy and flattering. I don’t think I ever want to take it off! I styled it pretty casually with jeans and mules, but I think it would also work great over something fancier like a cocktail dress.

So tell me, will you be hosting your very own Galentine’s Day this year? If so, I would love to hear all about what you’ll serve your guests, and what you’ll wear. As always, thank you so much for reading!
